Directors , Coaches and Parents,
In March of this year a member of the Babylon Girls Varsity Lacrosse team , Catherine O’Malley , suffered a severe cardiac arrest during a practice session. . Cat continues to remain strong and is working hard toward recovery, everyday. We will be selling Lime Green Lax Blast T-shirt’s as a fund raiser for her and her family. All profits from the sale of these lime green shirts will go to her family…Lime green is her favorite color. Please wear these T- shirts and keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!
In addition, there will be concessions. In the morning Bagels, Muffins and fruit will be sold along with drinks, snacks and ice cream. We will also have some apparel and lacrosse jewelry being sold.
Restrooms and Port-o-Potties will be located on premise. We ask that when setting up tents to please use your best judgment in not setting up directly behind goals. If your tent looks as if it may be in the way we will ask you to relocate for safety reasons!
****We will be enforcing the following rules so please pass them along to your parents/players.
A key to success of this tournament will be cooperation not only on the fields but also with our Neighbors in the town and Church. Thanks!!!!!
· Absolutely NO PETS, NO BBQ or OPEN FLAME COOKING
· DO NOT PARK on ALBIN AVENUE – Neighbors will call police and they will issue tickets
· DO NOT PARK in the parking lot by the White Building inside the park
· DO NOT PARK or Block the Ambulance Entrance/Spot
· Please follow our parking instructions in the mornings. We are trying to ensure we keep the church parking lot as clear as we can by 4:30pm.
Directions to Fields—Albin Ave , West Babylon NY
Directions via Sunrise Hwy (Rt. 27): Take Exit 37 to Route 109 East. Proceed to first traffic light and follow the directions from Route 109 and Arnold Avenue below.**
Via Long Island Expressway (Interstate 495): Exit 49 south (Route 110 / Amityville) Take Rte. 110 south to Route 109 East (Babylon). Go 6 traffic lights. At sixth light, follow the directions from Route 109 and Arnold Avenue below.**
Via Southern State Parkway (from the west):Exit 33, Route 109 east (Babylon). Go 5 traffic lights. At fifth light, follow the directions from Route 109 and Arnold Avenue below.**
Via Southern State Parkway. (from the east):Exit 35, Wellwood Ave. Take Wellwood Ave. south to Route 109. Make left on Rte. 109, go 3 traffic lights. At third light, follow the directions from Route 109 and Arnold Avenue below.**
**From Route 109 and Arnold Avenue- Turn right onto Arnold Avenue. Go to the 3rd stop sign, make a sharp right onto Albin Ave. Fields are on the left
Tournament rules and regulations are listed below;
2010 Tournament Rules and Regulations
1. All divisions will play full field games, 2 – 20 minute halves -running clock. (3 minute half time)
Time outs will not be permitted unless there is an injury.
2. All Divisions will play 12 v 12 format.
3. 2010 US Lacrosse Rules will apply.
4. Oak Beach Division will play full checking. Gilgo, Overlook and Cedar Beach Divisions will play modified
checking as defined by US Lacrosse. In addition, Good defensive position will be rewarded, no holding the ball for more than 3 seconds when closely guarded/marked and the defense has both hands on her stick and is in a position to legally check if checking were allowed.
5. Two yellow cards in one game will result in player being required to sit out remainder of game and if so warranted as ruled by referee that player could be forced to sit out next game.
6. Any player that receives a red card will be required to sit out for the next (1) game.
8. A player or coach who is ejected for violent conduct or serious foul play (red card) may be subject
to not participating in the remainder of the tournament. Ejections are determined by referees;
Expulsions are determined by the tournament directors.
Inclement Weather Policy
There will be NO RAINDATE…Field permits will not allow us to get all the games in if we are rained out on Sat.
In case of thunder all games will be suspended and fields will be cleared by sounding an air horn (3 long blasts).
Games will resume 20 minutes after the last thunder was heard.
Games will resume according to the actual time of the day – missed time/games will not be made up.
Scores will be recorded as they stand when game ended.
Closing of the fields and cancellation of the games is at the discretion of site managers, tournament
directors and officials. Keeping everyone safe is our 1st concern.
Partial refunds due to inclement weather are at the discretion of the tournament directors.
Play off Procedures
- There will be 4 playoff games- Each Division will have a champion. Oak beach (A & B) and Gilgo beach (C & D ) have sub divisions. . In the Gilgo Beach bracket the Winner of ( C ) will play the winner of ( D ).. In the Oak Beach bracket the winner ( A )will play the winner of ( B ).The top 2 teams in the Overlook Beach division (E) will make up another playoff game and the top 2 teams in the Cedar Beach division ( F ) will make the final playoff game.
All playoff games will be 2-20 minute halves -running clock. No time-outs are permitted. If tied at the end of
the game, sudden victory overtime will occur for play off games only.
One 5 minute overtime followed by braveheart if score is still tied
*In the event that there are 2 or more teams tied at the end of the bracket play, the following criteria will
be used to determine the seeding:
1. Head to Head
2. Goals Against
3. Shut outs
4. Coin flip
**If there are any forfeits, the average goals against in actual games played will be added to the total
goals against to the team that won by forfeit**
Coaching
All coaches have complete responsibility for the conduct of their players, substitutes and spectators at all
times. Coaching from the sidelines (giving direction to one’s own team on points of strategy and position) is
permitted, providing:
The tone of the voice is instructive and not derogatory
Each coach or substitute remains on their own half of the field between the substitution area and
the restraining line
No coach, substitute or spectator makes derogatory remarks or gestures to the umpires, other
coaches, players, substitutes, or spectators.
No coach, substitute, or spectator uses profanity or incites, in any manner or disruptive behavior
Officials have the right at anytime to stop a game, eject a coach based on their behavior, fans or
players behavior.
All ejections will be left up to the discretion of the tournament directors and their decision will be
final.
**The referee’s tent is off limits to all players, parents and coaches..no exceptions !!!
